On October 4th, Thaima Samman, founding partner at SAMMAN Law & Corporate Affairs, spoke at a roundtable on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The GDPR brings a large number of obligations to the organizations dealing with personal data, all emerging from the accountability principle. These organizations must not only comply with the GDPR, they must also be able to demonstrate their compliance with its provisions.
If only one thing were to be retained from this panel: the Data Protection Officer (DPO) is the GDPR’s cornerstone. Indeed, as a compliance tool, his mission is to inform and advise the organizations dealing with personal data in implementing the GDPR. He is also the first point of contact for supervisory authorities and for individuals whose data are processed.
SAMMAN Law & Corporate Affairs advises companies on their implementation of the GDPR. The firm has developed a strong expertise in this area and actively contributes to the work carried out by TECH IN France, the CIGREF and the AFAIon the regulation of data protection since October 2016. This work will culminate in a white paper to be published in the next few weeks.
