Launch of the Luxemburg Presidency

Notre Actu

From July 1st to December 31st 2015, Luxemburg takes over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in a context of Greek crisis and discussions around the UK referendum.

Succeeding to Latvia, the Grand Duchy presented a program taking inspiration from the major themes of the Juncker Commission: investment at the service of growth and jobs, promotion of sustainable development and digital single market.

At a time where priority is given to the implementation and the harmonization of the rules adopted at the European level, the Luxemburg Presidency does not foresee a large number of new proposals but rather some progress on the main existing dossiers, notably the Capital Markets Union led by Commissioner Hill.
